Welcome to the Garden Isle
Everything you need to know
Kauai is one of the most beautiful places on the planet — we’re biased, but it’s hard to argue. Here’s everything you need to make the most of your trip.

Travel Tips
Getting There
Fly into Lihue Airport (LIH) — it's the main airport on Kauai. Most routes connect through Honolulu (HNL) or directly from the mainland. Book early, especially during spring!
Getting Around
Rent a car. Kauai is spread out and there's no real public transit. Having your own wheels means you can explore at your own pace — and you'll absolutely want to. Book ahead as cars go fast.
Where to Stay
North Shore (Hanalei) is lush and remote with epic scenery. South Shore (Poipu) has great beaches and more amenities. East Side (Kapaa) is central and easy. Pick your vibe!
How Long to Stay
We'd say at least 5–7 days to really soak it in. Kauai has a way of making you never want to leave. Stay longer if you can — you'll already be thinking about your next trip.
Weather
May is a great time to visit — warm, mostly sunny, with the occasional quick shower. The north shore gets more rain (it's one of the wettest places on Earth!) but the rainbows make it worth it.
Beach Tips
Always check ocean conditions before swimming. North shore can have big swells. Tunnels Beach is great for snorkeling when calm. Poipu and Mahalepu are more consistently mellow.

Things Not to Miss
Kauai has more than you can fit in one trip — but try anyway.
Nā Pali Coast
Dramatic 4,000-ft sea cliffs — hike the Kalalau Trail, kayak the coastline, or take a sunset boat tour. Absolutely unforgettable.
Waimea Canyon
The "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Drive up for jaw-dropping views of red and green canyon walls. Don't skip this.
Tunnels Beach
One of Kauai's best snorkeling spots with a gorgeous reef. Calm in summer — go early to snag a parking spot.
Hoipi Falls
A hidden gem waterfall worth seeking out. The hike in is part of the adventure — lush, green, and very Kauai.
Makalaha Falls & Pools
Gorgeous tiered waterfall with natural pools perfect for a dip. One of those spots that doesn't feel real.
Kalepa Ridge
A ridge hike with some of the most stunning panoramic views on the island. Bring good shoes and your camera.
Mahalepu Beach
A beautiful, rugged, mostly-undeveloped stretch of coastline on the south shore. Great for walking and wave watching.
Secret Falls Hike
Kayak up the Wailua River then hike to a hidden 100-ft waterfall. One of Kauai's best half-day adventures.
Rock Quarry Beach
A tucked-away beach locals love. Less crowded, beautiful scenery, and the waves here are fun if you're into that.
Hanalei Bay
Postcard-perfect crescent bay on the north shore. Paddle board, swim, or just sit and stare at those mountains.
Wailua Falls
The waterfall from the Fantasy Island intro. Easy roadside stop — big reward for almost zero effort.
